Studio Policies
Shoes:
Flesh-toned or black canvas ballet shoes or socks.
Ballet:
Bare feet are preferred until the second semester of Ballet II; subsequent classes require split-soled canvas ballet shoes (pink or black), or satin pink pointe shoes. Children need to feel their whole foot on the ground for proper body alignment that is why INTUIT waits to place children in shoes.
Contemporary, Dance for Children, and Dancing Tots:
Bare feet, lyrical foot pads or socks.
Tap:
Tap shoes.
Jazz:
Socks or split-soled canvas ballet shoes.
Hip Hop:
Sneakers that you do not wear outside.
Clothing
Keeping with our philosophy of authentic dance expression, students have the choice of wearing anything that they can move in that makes them feel comfortable.
Examples may include: a leotard, unitard, tights, shorts, tank-top, leggings, T-shirt and dance pants, dance skirts.
Hair
Needs to be pulled back so it does not interfere with skills the dancers are learning.
Observing
Generally, we find it easier for teachers to establish a rapport with students if parents are not present during class. If this presents concerns, please speak with the instructor privately. If it is agreed that parental presence is in the best interest of the child, please no talking.
Tardiness
Plan to be on time for classes. The most important part of class is at the very beginning. This is when we center ourselves and prepare for learning. Injuries occur when you have not warmed-up sufficiently. If you are late, wait off to the side of the room until the teacher gestures for you to enter class, as this is proper dance etiquette..
Absences
Please call or email the director at 312-505-0186 or [email protected] if you are going to miss class. You may make-up missed classes in any class throughout the session.
Refunds
Class fees are non-refundable; balance transfer is available to another family member or another class (provided space is available). If a substitute instructor is needed to cover a dance class, a refund will not be given.
Rehearsals
It is important to attend all classes when preparing for a performance.
